PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
AMSOIL Synthetic
Heavy Duty Diesel & Marine Motor Oil (AME) is a premium diesel oil
providing excellent performance in all types of diesel engines where
highly effective control of wear and deposits is vital. Built with
heavy-duty dispersant/detergent additives, its 12 TBN chemistry
neutralizes acids and controls soot thickening from EGR and blow-by
to protect against corrosion, cylinder bore polishing (wear) and
varnish/sludge deposits. AMSOIL AME resists heat and breakdown
better than conventional petroleum oils for long lasting performance
and protection.
AMSOIL, the
leader in automotive synthetic lubrication, produced the world’s
first API qualified synthetic motor oil in 1972. Trust the extensive
experience of AMSOIL The First in Synthetics ® to do the best job
protecting your engine.
Extends
Drain Intervals
AMSOIL AME can extend drain intervals far beyond those recommended
for conventional petroleum oils. Its unique synthetic formulation
and long drain additive system deliver the best possible engine
protection, cleanliness and performance over extended drain
intervals, reducing vehicle maintenance and waste oil disposal
costs.
Advanced
Soot and Wear Control Formula
AMSOIL Synthetic Heavy Duty Diesel & Marine Motor Oil is heavily
fortified with detergent/dispersant additives and is naturally
resistant to soot. It keeps soot particles suspended independently,
preventing them from attaching together to form larger, wear-causing
particles. Viscosity increase is minimized and soot related wear is
controlled.
Maximizes Fuel Economy, Reduces Oil Consumption and Emissions
AMSOIL AME has lower volatility (evaporation) than con-ventional
petroleum oils. Because less oil vapor passes into the combustion
chamber, oil consumption and emissions are reduced. Lower volatility
helps AMSOIL AME retain its viscosity after high temperature service
for excellent fuel economy and continued dependable protection.
Excellent Cold Flow Properties
AMSOIL AME remains fluid down to -44°F. It eases cold weather
starting and provides vital start-up lubrication to prevent engine
wear. AME outperforms conventional 15W-40 petroleum oils and greatly
minimizes the impact of cold weather operation.

(1)
Engines operating under modified conditions are excluded from
extended drain recommendations. Examples include the use of
performance computer chips; non-OEM approved exhaust, fuel or air
induction systems; and the use of fuels other than those recommended
for normal operation by the manufacturer.
(2)
Engines are in good working condition and within the factory design
settings. Mechanically sound engines, for example, do not leak oil
or consume excessive amounts, are not worn out, do not overheat, do
not have internal or external anti-freeze leaks and have a properly
working emission control system. AMSOIL recommends repairs be made
to malfunctioning engines prior to the installation of AMSOIL
synthetic oils.
(3)
Personal transportation vehicles frequently traveling greater than
10 miles (16 km) at a time and not operating under severe service.
(4)
Extensive engine idling, daily short trip driving less than 10 miles
(16 km), frequent towing, plowing, hauling heavy loads or
dusty-condition driving.
AMSOIL Ea™ and
Donaldson Endurance™ full flow oil filters are designed for extended
drain intervals. They stop smaller particles, have less restriction
and last longer than regular filters. For best performance, use
AMSOIL Ea or Donaldson Endurance oil filters.
AMSOIL by-pass
oil filters are specialized for the removal of small, wear-causing
dirt particles, thereby extending engine life. AMSOIL encourages
using an
AMSOIL bypass filter system for maximum engine and oil life.

industry’s premier synthetic
technology with AMSOIL premium
additives, AMSOIL HDD exceeds the
higher performance demands of modern
engines. It withstands the stress of
higher heat, higher acid levels and
excessive soot loading found in EGR
equipped engines. AMSOIL Series 3000
Synthetic 5W-30 Diesel Oil
consistently outperforms
conventional and synthetic diesel
oils for long-lasting performance
and protection.
AMSOIL, the leader in automotive
synthetic lubrication, produced the
world’s first API qualified
synthetic motor oil in 1972. Trust
the extensive experience of AMSOIL
The First in Synthetics® to do the
best job protecting your engine.
Extends Drain Intervals
AMSOIL HDD can extend drain
intervals far beyond those
recommended for conventional oils.
Its unique synthetic formulation and
long drain additive system deliver
the best possible engine protection,
cleanliness and performance over
extended drain intervals, reducing
vehicle maintenance and waste oil
disposal costs.
Maximizes Fuel Economy
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Heavy Duty
Diesel Oil is energy efficient for
reduced fuel costs. Its low
viscosity minimizes “drag”
associated with high viscosity oils,
allowing the engine to operate more
freely, maximizing power and fuel
economy.
Unsurpassed Protection
Against Engine Wear
In the Four-Ball Wear Test (ASTM
D-4172B) AMSOIL HDD demonstrated
better anti-wear performance than
competitive petroleum and synthetic
oils. Even under high temperatures
and pressures, its superior film
strength and anti-wear additives
help prevent metal-to-metal contact.
AMSOIL HDD reduces ring wear,
cylinder bore polishing, oil
consumption and valve train wear for
improved engine life and lower
maintenance costs.
Controls Soot Thickening
and Wear
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Heavy Duty
Diesel Oil is heavily fortified with
detergent/dispersant additives and
is naturally resistant to soot. It
keeps soot particles suspended
independently, preventing them from
attaching together to form larger,
wear-causing particles. Viscosity
increase is minimized and soot
related wear is controlled.
Reduces Oil Consumption
and Emissions
AMSOIL HDD loses only 6.7% of its
mass to high temperature volatility
(evaporation) in the NOACK test,
outperforming all conventional oils.
Because less oil vapor passes into
the combustion chamber, oil
consumption and emissions are
reduced. Additionally, lower
volatility helps AMSOIL HDD retain
its viscosity after high temperature
service for continued dependable
protection and excellent fuel
economy.
Excels in Extreme
Temperatures
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Heavy Duty
Diesel Oil resists thermal (heat)
breakdown, oxidation and sludge
formation better than conventional
oils. And unlike conventional
petroleum oils, AMSOIL HDD contains
no wax. It stays fluid down to -60°F
for improved cold temperature oil
flow, reduced bearing wear and
easier starting.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
AMSOIL Synthetic Diesel Oil 10W-30/SAE 30 Diesel Oil (ACD) is
formulated with premium synthetic base oils that exceed both 10W-30
multi-grade and SAE 30 straight-grade viscosity requirements for
outstanding performance in modern and older diesel engines. Unlike
conventional SAE 30 motor oils, AMSOIL ACD has a naturally high
viscosity index and does not contain paraffin (wax). It has a -36°F
pour point and qualifies for SAE 10W, making it an “all season”
multi-grade lubricant with a wide operating temperature range.
AMSOIL ACD is formulated without viscosity index improvers (VI).
This shear stable formulation stops viscosity loss and associated
bearing and cylinder bore wear. AMSOIL ACD contains premium
additives with a high 12 TBN to neutralize acids from blow-by,
exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and high sulfur diesel fuels. It
protects against damaging piston deposits, ring sticking and sludge.
AMSOIL, the leader in automotive synthetic
lubrication, produced the world’s first API qualified synthetic
motor oil back in 1972. Trust the extensive experience of AMSOIL
The First in Synthetics® to do the best job protecting your
equipment.
APPLICATIONS
Where these viscosity grades are specified, AMSOIL Synthetic 10W-30/SAE
30 Diesel Oil (ACD) provides outstanding performance as a
straight-grade SAE 30 for older two- and four-stroke diesels and as
a multi-grade SAE 10W-30 in modern four-stroke diesels as well as

MIXING AMSOIL
AMSOIL Synthetic Diesel Oil ACD is compatible with
conventional and synthetic motor oils, however, mixing AMSOIL ACD
with other oils will shorten the oil life expectancy and reduce the
associated performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended
drain intervals where AMSOIL ACD has been mixed with another
product. Aftermarket additives are not recommended for use with
AMSOIL ACD.
SERVICE LIFE
AMSOIL ACD is formulated for extended drain intervals and typically
provides much longer service life than conventional petroleum oils
in diesel-fueled engines. Extended drain intervals vary depending on
application and operating conditions. AMSOIL recommends ACD for the
following drain intervals:
In unmodified pick-up and automotive diesel engines, extend

disposal costs, making AMSOIL even more cost effective.
Reduces Oil Consumption and
Emissions
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Oil has lower volatility (burn-off) than
conventional petroleum oils. Because less oil vapor passes into the
combustion chamber, oil consumption and emissions are reduced. Lower
volatility helps AMSOIL Premium Diesel Oil retain its viscosity after
high-temperature service for dependable protection and excellent fuel
economy.
Controls Soot-Thickening
and Wear
The advanced synthetic base oils in AMSOIL 5W-40 Diesel Oil are
naturally resistant to soot contamination. That, along with a heavy
fortification of detergent/dispersant additives, keeps soot particles
suspended independently, helping prevent the formation of larger
wear-causing particles. Viscosity increase is minimized and soot-related
wear is controlled.
APPLICATIONS
AMSOIL Premium CJ-4 Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Oil is recommended for diesel
engines and, where appropriate, gasoline engines requiring any of the
following specifications:
• SAE 5W-40 • API CJ-4, CI-4+,

"How to Reduce or
Prevent Turbocharger Bearing Seizures"
One of the many specific areas, on turbocharged engines, that can
clearly benefit from the use of synthetic oil is the turbocharger. When a
turbocharged engine is shut off immediately after use, "heat soak" occurs due to
the extremely high temperature still present in the turbocharger. Over a period
of time this can lead to deposits that can reduce or block the oil flow to the
turbocharger bearings which can lead to turbocharger bearing seizure.
AMSOIL's Synthetic Diesel Oils are inherently more thermally stable than many
diesel oils on the market and have been shown to keep turbochargers considerably
cleaner than other brands of oil. While poor quality engine oils have been shown
to cause turbocharger bearing seizure in under 100 hours during a "heat soak"
test.
Many diesel engine oils will survive the 100 hour "heat soak" test, but..., with
considerable deposits and incipient oil passage blocking. If you use low quality
diesel oils make sure you let the engine idle for a few minutes after use to
allow the engine and turbocharger to cool. This does not eliminate deposit
formation but it can reduce it.
Take a look at the varnish deposits in this picture. These are the results of a
severe high temperature deposit test. The one at the far right is AMSOIL
Synthetic 15W-40 Diesel oil and the others are major brand petroleum diesel
oils. (left to right: Chevron Delo 400, Cummins Premium Blue, Shell Rotella T,
AMSOIL (15W-40). The test clearly shows that AMSOIL diesel oil keeps engines cleaner longer
than other major brand diesel oils do. Which oil would you rather have
protecting your engine?
Amsoil Synthetic Diesel Oil Proven to Prevent Turbocharger Bearing Seizure
One of the many specific areas on a diesel turbocharged engine, such as the Powerstroke,
Duramax, and Cummins
Diesel which can clearly benefit from the use of synthetic motor oil is the
turbocharger. When a diesel turbocharged engine is shut off immediately after a high
speed run, "heat soak" occurs from the engine, and it considerably increases the
temperature in the turbocharger. Over a period of time this can lead to
deposits that can block the oil flow to the turbocharger bearings, leading to
turbocharger seizure. Synthetic diesel engine oils that are inherently more thermally
stable than petroleum engine oils have been shown to keep turbochargers
considerably cleaner than petroleum engine oils. A poor petroleum diesel oil will give
turbocharger seizure, caused by blocked oilways, in under 100 hours of a severe
"heat soak" test cycle. A good diesel petroleum oil will survive for 100 hours but
with considerable deposits and incipient blocking. A good synthetic oil will
maintain the turbocharger in almost "as fitted" condition.
